I hope that the following information would be added about Sakhnin:

1. Sakhneen is a part of what is known as the "Land Day Triangle", which consists of Sakhnin and the neighboring villages Arraba and Deir Hanna. Land Day, which is remembered annually on March 30th started in 1976 when demonstrations broke out in the Sakhnin area following a government decision to confiscate lands belonging to the arab villages of that area. Two citizens of Sakhnin were killed by the Israeli security forces.

2. Sakhnin was also at the center of events in the October 2000 events in Israel which led to the death of 13 arab citizens, two of which were from Sakhnin, and another two from neighboring Arraba.

3. In May 18th 2004 Sakhnin's football team known as "Bne Sakhnin" Or "Sakhnin's Sons Union" won the Israel Cup, becoming the first Arab team to win the cup.

Best regards Tommy

this refers to a book by Hatim Kanaaneh, A Doctor in Galilee, 2007, and like it has some information on Sakhnin and 1976. Nishidani (talk) 17:13, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
