If the "Otonabee River (Which flows first into Rice Lake then Lake Ontario by another river named Trent)" then it can't be a tributary of a creek like indicated, right? Rmhermen 13:51, Sep 20, 2003 (UTC)

That wasn't quite correct. Both Rice Lake and the Otonabee River are part of the Trent-Severn system. The section referred to is not the Trent River, it is part of the Trent Canal. One other anomaly is that Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching are also connected to the Trent-Severn at the Severn River end of things. Big Iron 10:56, Nov 18, 2003 (UTC)

  • Balsam Lake is the summit of the Trent-Severn Waterway. So the lakes and rivers west from here flow through the Severn River and canals; lakes and rivers east from Balsam Lake flow through the Trent River and canal. -- P199 17:02, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone (who knows what they're doing) should add the Madawaska River to this list. - sik0fewl 23:37, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)

It's already there. Adam Bishop 23:41, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Split off creeks and brooks?

[edit]

I propose to make a separate article for all creeks, brooks, and minor streams in Ontario. This list could potentially be hundreds of names long, making this page unwieldy. And it will also help to focus this page on only the notable rivers. -- P199 14:59, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I completed the splitt-off, at List of creeks in Ontario. UnitedStatesian (talk) 17:49, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kawartha Lakes and closed systems in Ontario

[edit]

As is, there's nothing in the article for certain lake systems such as the Kawartha Lakes, and the rivers (and other assorted tributaries) that flow into them. For example, the Mississauga River that flows into Lake Buckhorn, or Eels Creek which flows into Stony Lake. In addition, if there's any closed systems in Ontario's bodies of water, they too have no representation. What would be the best way to fit these in? --65.92.125.181 06:55, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Kawartha Lakes drain through the Severn and Trent Rivers, so any rivers that flow into the lakes should be shown as a tributary of the Severn or Trent (Balsam Lake is the summit of the Trent-Severn Waterway). As for closed systems, I am not aware of any significant rivers that are part of a closed system. Maybe a few minor creeks? But they should not be added to the list. -- P199 17:02, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missing creek

[edit]

I noticed Oshawa creek is missing.

Why is Niagara Falls listed as a river?

[edit]

The Niagara River is included in this article about 'rivers', but I'm not sure why the waterfall along the Niagara River also listed?

Several tributaries to Lake Ontario seem to be missing.

I'll try to clean this article up.
