Contradiction?

[edit]

I'm not a geologist but it seems to me that the statement that "Thielsen was produced by subduction of the Nazca Plate under the North American Plate" conflicts with the statement below that says "The Cascade Range was produced by convergence of the North American Plate with the subducting Juan de Fuca Plate." Isn't the Nazca Plate a bit further south.  –droll [chat] 08:13, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're right -- it's the Juan de Fuca plate. —hike395 (talk) 08:17, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, that was a confusion on my part. Blame my frazzled brain. ceranthor 20:28, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?

[edit]

As a southern Oregon native, I have never heard Thielsen pronounced TEAL-sun. There's always a "th" sound at the beginning. I'm thinking the source isn't very reliable because I haven't ever heard Willamette pronounced will-A-mut or Oregon pronounced OARY-gun, either. Thoughts? I'm not a native but I've lived in the state for about 20 years. I agree with you. –droll [chat] 23:22, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the incorrect pronunciation and the source. LittleMountain5 23:25, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
