Reviews

[edit]

Wouldn't it be useful to have some reviews up? --Jamdav86 09:20, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

There's already a GameSpot review and I tend to think that's probably enough. But if you know of another review that offers something above and beyond what's already available go ahead and add it. :-) --NormanEinstein 16:07, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)

Cheats for this game

[edit]

i checked some cheats for this game at some sites basically they have the same thing, but the main problem is, it doesn't work the cheat is...

When you beat the game you will unlock 90's customes which is called "Xtreme Gear has been unlocked", now i have unlocked it, but i can't see the customes even if i use the cheat which is

Up 2x, Right, Left, Down 2x and Start, (it works) but how do i get the customes

i know this has nothing to do with the article but... any help:D ><ino 03:07, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Go to change team at an extraction point, highlight the mutant, and press the x button (on xbox) to change their costume

CLEANING UP

[edit]

I have managed to get some people and cleaned up some X-Men Legend related game. We suceed. So I/we will do the same for this. All I just need now is some attention, people who helped with the previous articles can also help to improve this.

I can't wait for E3, when they will reveal Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. So while I wait, I noticed we have improve the 2 articles.

and

So I say, we have the chance to improve this, and it won't take long! Now to improve this:

  • We need more notes under the Gameplay Section

*The Characters Section really needs cleaning up,

    • The Characters Section will have to be turned into a table, just like the other X-Men Legend related articles.

*Ratings, we can get top known websites like IGN, Gamespot & 1up ratings. (needs source aswell!)

  • If it is possible, we should try and get some "Notes & Trivia Section" up, some history and details about this can and maybe some detail regrading with X-Men comic or cartoon and Marvel cameo characters.

Ok...people...LET'S GET TO WORK!

>x<ino 00:48, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry people, I won't be able to help with the cleaning, because of E3!...gotta work on other articles:P

A few things

[edit]
  • The link to the offical site was wrong. It was www.x-men-legends.com and there was no page, I changed it to www.xmenlegends.com.
  • The Genre seems like it should be Action RPG to me. Moby, Gamespot, and the offical site all call it Action RPG. Also, spelling out role-playing game seems a little much. There's a link if someone doesn't know what RPG stands for.
  • The screenshot should say what version of the game it's from. I asume it's not the N-Gage of course. --ScarletSpiderDave 05:54, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will clear up those notes later on, since e3 is over, we can focus on this article. Other RPG made by Activision are done well, with my commands:P

  • Xmen legends 2 is cleaned up
  • Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is also cleaned up

Well...I will create the character table later

How to unlock characters section

[edit]

I removed the instructions abotu hwo to unlock characters. Wikipedia is not a how-to guide. Ace of Sevens 02:43, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mysteriously excluded character

[edit]

Why wasn't Angel/Archangel in the game? Is there a real explanation?

No. Do we need one? Dac 08:16, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To add, the X-Men universe has hundreds, if not thousands of characters, of varying importance. It's unrealistic for a videogame to feature them all. Notthegoatseguy 18:32, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

True, however Angel's files still remain on the disc, as modders have discovered. Conversations, voice lines, models and icons are all there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.166.165.240 (talk) 15:30, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay

[edit]

"Co-operative play is similar to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, but is more refined with the addition of combination attacks and character interactions, akin to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance."

The first part of this sentence is pure, unfounded opinion, and the second part is completely misleading, as XML is MUA's predecessor, so stating that its gameplay is 'akin' to MUA is just wrong. I'm removing the sentence.

Well, crud. I forgot about this and now have misplaced my notes. I'm travelling, so I won't be able to post anything for another day or so... sorry for the delay, please bear with me. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 20:10, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem - we all get busy sometimes. --Teancum (talk) 00:19, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Images:
  • Prose:
    • Elements from the lead (who Alison Crestmere is, who the X-Men are, et al) are somewhat explained in the lead but not in the body. Per policy, everything in the lead must be in the article body.Green tickY
    • There's a lot of confusing verb tenses throughout. Past tense is simple and straightforward; no reason to deviate from that in historical sections unless necessary. You can see some of the problems that I removed in one section.[1]
    • The Article needs an audit for accessibility to non-gamers. Terms like "drop in, drop out" are undefined; comparisons that would mean little to non-players leave the prose cloudy, such as "Co-operative play is similar to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2"."
    • Why is "Man of Action" italicized? It's not a work. Actual works, like the X-Men films, The Wonder Years, and Ultimate X-Men, are not italicized.Green tickY
    • " IGN stated "To capture the 'comic book feel,' "... - publications aren't people and don't have opinions, it's the critics who do.Green tickY
    • You can cut down a lot of redundant words throughout the article ("As Alison trains, the X-Men are sent to explore an Alaskan research facility", et al.)

I am putting the article on hold for now. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 20:39, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review. I think I'm going to withdraw the nomination, though. The last time I took this to peer review the responses were extremely minimal, so though I can fix some of these things, I don't feel like alone I can correct the second, third, and last prose issues found without peer participation. Truthfully at the moment I'm happy with it being B class, so perhaps I'll shift focus to a new article. --Teancum (talk) 20:56, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer: Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 04:28, 2 January 2011 (UTC) It looks like this article had a good review previously, and that most of the concerns were taken care of. I'm will start this review by double checking that the past concerns have been taken care of, then I'll take a second look to make sure that there are no concerns that were missed and no new issues have arisen (dead links, major changes, links redirecting to home pages, etc.). Hope to have something soon. Cheers--Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 04:28, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Prior concerns

[edit]
Image was deleted so this concern is taken care of.
  • Prose:
  • Elements from the lead (who Alison Crestmere is, who the X-Men are, et al) are somewhat explained in the lead but not in the body. Per policy, everything in the lead must be in the article body.
Information has been addressed in the plot section.
  • There's a lot of confusing verb tenses throughout. Past tense is simple and straightforward; no reason to deviate from that in historical sections unless necessary. You can see some of the problems that I removed in one section.[2]
Article has received a full CE from GOCE since the first GA and has fixed this issue.
  • The Article needs an audit for accessibility to non-gamers. Terms like "drop in, drop out" are undefined; comparisons that would mean little to non-players leave the prose cloudy, such as "Co-operative play is similar to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2"."
Drop in Drop out have been taken care of. However as a non-serious gamer I don't understand why Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is referenced. the reference simply states "The top-down, combat-heavy setup is reminiscent of games like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance" was this game critically acclaimed, or award winning for its Cooperative play?
The way it's worded now it doesn't apply much context to non-gamers so from that angle I think it might be best to remove. If you explain the connection as to why they compared the two games like "Cooperative play is similar to the award winning Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2" (don't know if that's true) or something along those lines it would help readers unfamiliar with Baldur's Gate understand the comparison.--Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 16:30, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
 Done - Removed
  • Why is "Man of Action" italicized? It's not a work. Actual works, like the X-Men films, The Wonder Years, and Ultimate X-Men, are not italicized.
Man of Action is no longer italicized, while the other have been.
  • " IGN stated "To capture the 'comic book feel,' "... - publications aren't people and don't have opinions, it's the critics who do.
Has been reworded.
  • You can cut down a lot of redundant words throughout the article ("As Alison trains, the X-Men are sent to explore an Alaskan research facility", et al.)
CE has taken care of this issues as well

Further review

[edit]

I have reviewed the article and it looks good for the most part. I had a couple of comments:

  • The Metacritic references, 43, 44, and 46 go to a page that displays "404 – Page Not Found"
  •  Done - Replaced with updated URLs
  • Reference 48 the original is no-longer available and the archive is giving an error message.
  •  Done - Updated with a vendor reference since verifiability is all that's needed here.
  • ref 49 goes to a link page. Why not use the different pages with the information as separate references?
Furthermore, I don't see any mention of Beenox on the PC link. Is there a better link for this?
  •  Done - Replaced
  • Same as above with ref 50.
  •  Done - Replaced
  • reference 54 is also a dead link, taking you to a page that states "We couldn't find the page you were looking for!"
  •  Done - Replaced

Done - I've addressed all the issues. Thanks for reviewing - if you see anything else let me know. --Teancum (talk) 19:58, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good I'm going I'm going to go ahead and pass this.--Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 20:28, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
