Axel Lindgren II

[edit]

Several times recently, an anonymous editor has added a notable person to the list, Axel Lindgren II. Mr. Lindgren was one of the descendents of the first residents of Trinidad and was instrumental in keeping the original culture alive. Unfortunately, I cannot find reliable secondary sources for his notability. He was honored in the name of a local beach and a local trail and members of his family still serves on the board of directors of the Trinidad Museum. I think there probably is a lot of material but it isn't online, it will take more digging to find. Then I think an article could be written and then he could be added to this page. Wikiproject guidelines say that a person has to have a page first, then be added to the location notables. Ellin Beltz (talk) 19:12, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Eureka Times-Standard published a feature on Lindgren: http://klamathbucketbrigade.org/Times-Standard_AxelLindgreniscarryingonhisfather%27slegacy031506.htm. He is listed as a cast member in the comedy Almost Heroes, IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119053/?ref_=nmbio_mbio The film was shot partly in Trinidad. Alas, Ron Givens in the N.Y. Daily news, exemplifies the critical reaction: "There's a difference between a stupid movie and a movie populated by stupid characters, and director Christopher Guest shows that distinction with Almost Heroes." On and off in the 1980s and '90s, I would see Lindgren at work on the dugout canoe he was building near the town center, using traditional tools and materials, as a piece of living history. I'm not a legit citation, of course...Jim Stinson (talk) 21:13, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pop culture section

[edit]

I have created a Pop culture section, and moved the filming of a scene in the movie "The Majestic" into it. It just didn't seem historically significant compared to the other events in the History section, yet deserves to be mentioned. 1980fast (talk) 21:26, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Pynchon

[edit]

Thomas Pynchon, included in the article's list of notable residents, has no reference to Trinidad in his own Wikipedia entry. The list as a whole seems to have no citations. Is this a "George Washington slept here" type fiction?Jim Stinson (talk) 20:55, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good question! I Googled "Thomas Pynchon Trinidad", found a source, and cited it. I don't know how reliable the source is, but with a citation readers can dig deeper and decide for themselves. Best regards,—Stepheng3 (talk) 21:16, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
