Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RfPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated budget vandalism. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:03, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Even after a revert by an admin@Daniel:[1] , disruption is still continuing. Ratnahastin (talk) 10:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC). Ratnahastin (talk) 10:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

      • I've been pinged in the above comment — I don't think my revert can be taken as any sort of supporting evidence that protection is required. I simply reverted an edit which I believe is against the clear consensus developing on the talk page (even if I'm not thrilled by said consensus personally). That discussion may eventually lead to a different consensus, or it may not. Daniel (talk) 11:34, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Talk-page discussion was started and is ongoing. Lectonar (talk) 14:48, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive edits by IPs and new editors since past few weeks. They keep adding either unsourced or clearly incorrect information again and again. Requesting Semi-protection for 3 months. Dhruv edits (talk) 14:28, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: ARBPIA + Lebanon. Borgenland (talk) 14:35, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 14:49, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 14:56, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Permanent semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism. Please revdel latest ones. M/ (talk) 14:57, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Bbb23 (talk) 16:31, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Recent uptick in vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 15:11, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Article is the target of block-evading IP-hopper(s). Skywatcher68 (talk) 15:11, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 15:13, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – An editor is repeatedly restoring an article that was redirected under a 2023 AfD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Somalia national under-20 football team). The editor is refusing advice to discuss on the talk page or seek a deletion review. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:40, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I believe the article you're referring to is Somalia national under-20 football team. The article you linked only has had one edit in the past two weeks. GeorgeMemulous (talk) 15:43, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's it. The article got reverted while I was filing my report so I think Twinkle sent it from the wrong place. The page creator is now seeking discussion on the talk page so this request may be moot, but we'll see. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:58, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated disruptive editing from IPs over unsourced claims. Trailblazer101 (talk) 16:00, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Bbb23 (talk) 16:31, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because there is harmful false information that needs to be changed....... . Am1115 (talk) 14:40, 17 September 2024 (UTC) There is a lot of false information on the page for Zionism that is extremely harmful. Please allow this page to be edited so that the false information can be fixed.[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. This falls under Wikipedia:Contentious topics, so users must be logged-in and extended-confirmed to edit or discuss this topic. Lectonar (talk) 14:46, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Zionism IS NOT an ethno-cultural nationalism. It was NOT intended to colonize, but to decolonize regions of the Ottoman Empire that later became part of the British Mandate of Palestine. Hernanle (talk) 12:14, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your request is an assertion, presumably based on your personal opinion. See WP:EDITXY for a guide to writing edit requests in a way that makes them more likely to be accepted. Sean.hoyland (talk) 12:32, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined. This is not an edit request, it's just a complaint. You need to write a request in the form "change X to Y" and provide citations to reliable sources for verification. ~Anachronist (talk) 14:30, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request that... (Please correct the ranking order. As the page states, the ranking is based on the lowest gross, but one entry has been given special treatment. Additionally, it's widely known that the upper range figures cannot be used for ranking, as box office numbers in India are often heavily manipulated. https://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/brahmastra-box-office-why-there-are-different-figures-for-the-film-everywhere-101663031644806.html https://www.timesnownews.com/entertainment-news/telugu/exclusive-prabhas-salaar-fake-box-office-figures-proxy-booking-scam-decoded-article-106342910 https://www.deccanchronicle.com/entertainment/tollywood/industry-bigwigs-baffled-over-fudged-box-office-figures-878975 https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/bollywood/better-ott-deals-fake-perception-rise-in-star-fee-why-bollywood-is-rigging-box-office-with-corporate-bookings-and-what-exactly-is-it-9401271/ https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/bollywood/gadar-2s-anil-sharma-says-makers-give-fake-box-office-numbers-buy-tickets-themselves-audience-says-ye-jhoothe-log-hain-8913097/ ) .
