I'm a little light on appropriate references for this. I picked up most of this in passing from Adler, Jacob, A Life on the Stage: A Memoir, translated and with commentary by Lulla Rosenfeld, Knopf, New York, 1999, ISBN 067941351, 157-158; Adler mentions crossing paths with "Count Abaza" and gives a few details; Rosenfeld fleshes it out a little in her commentary. I got a fuller name & birth/death dates from http://www.emich.edu/public/history/moss/names.htm. But clearly this is a figure that merits a proper article, with references more relevant than two passing mentions. -- Jmabel | Talk 04:49, Feb 17, 2005 (UTC)

I added some dates and some nuances. I took these from Marks, Road to Power: The Trans-Siberian Railroad and the Colonisation of Asiatic Russia (1991). [25 may 2006].
