Substantial changes have been made.

April 2009

[edit]

Done a bit of a rewrite

  • Put some more content into the intro cause it was too small
  • Merged content from Dresser Inc. because it was a duplicate of this one
  • Converted external links into proper references
  • Deleted the Bibliography section because it's a straight lift from [2] which makes them tertiary referneces.
  • Cut down and re-edit the public offering section, it's dangerously close to a copyright vio of [3]
  • Added company infobox for Dresser Inc.
  • Add new references

July 2009

[edit]

The article states

"On January 1, 1987 Dresser Industries and Ingersoll-Rand merged to form Dresser-Rand Company"

but there is no mention of this in the Ingersoll-Rand page--Was this actually a merger? It sounds more like a joint venture, as Ingersoll Rand appears to still exist separately.

These companies combined some of their assets but there was not a merger between the companies. Changed text about this. Beagel (talk) 17:52, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Acquired by General Electric

[edit]

Dresser Industries is acquired by General Electric. The article should be updated correspondingly. Beagel (talk) 17:52, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
