Old

[edit]

This entry is obviously POV, but there was a show by this name: [1]It might deserve a page.

It deserves a page, but until such time as a proper page is made the page should be deleted.

Article overhauled, added Template:Infobox television w/info, episode listing, offcial homepage, and brief summary/comparison.

I've gone through and added many, many things, expanding on what was already there in an effort to make this a bigger and more throuogh article (longer episodes summaries, more trivia, etc.). Please feel free to add to it. I know it was only a 13 episode series, but there it a lot of info we can add. --JimmyHendricks 17:17, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't the Family Guy spoof "That 30s Show", not 80s? --Dalar 19:30, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think it was The Simpsons, not Family Guy, that used the "That '30s Show" spoof, but don't quote me on that. --Dynamite Eleven 03:33, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it was the Simpsons. It was a random TV bit, and I can't remember what episode it was, but I'd check the season of the year that "That '80s Show" premiered, as that would be the most likely time. JQF 21:17, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I did a Google search, and the answer came from one of Wikipedia's own pages. The episode of The Simpsons was titled The Great Louse Detective, and it aired in December 2002 (about seven months after "That '80s Show" went off the air). --Dynamite Eleven 16:53, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Connection to That '70s Show

[edit]

What exactly is the connection between That '70s Show and That '80s Show in plot/character terms? The later show is described as a spinoff of the earlier show, but obviously they don't take place contemporaneously. --Metropolitan90 05:37, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, there is no connection through the characters; however, there is one through one of the actresses. As part of her audition, the lovely Brittany Daniel guest starred on "'70s" as Eric's cousin Penny; but on "'80s" she played a separate character named Sophia. (Actually, I think there might have even been plans to get Topher Grace to guest star on "'80s" as Eric, but the spinoff didn't last long enough for that to happen.) --Dynamite Eleven 03:09, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeah i heard that too. i think it says on wiki somewhere too. ill let u know if/when i find it. (p.s. it totally would have done better if it was the same people from 70s show, just rename for the new decade.)I am Paranoid 21:00, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to IMDB, Eric Forman and Corey Howard (the main character of that 80s show) are cousins. I added this fact to the wiki.--Cms479 21:08, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
hi, 16(!) years later now, but i don't see anything to that effect in the article. it shows daniels' OTHER character (that one-off appearance in the first show) as a cousin, but neither of the 2 siblings from THIS show. it also says "unrelated" several places -- is this NOT the case? 2601:19C:527F:A660:B9FC:7AA9:5EA2:188 (talk) 19:03, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

now that there's a "90's show", should it be added to the development section? rewording lines like "...no direct connection to the original 70's show unlike the 90s show which came later on" or something?

i mean, there's a link down the BOTTOM to the 90's show, but it's just not the same. i think it should be worked into the actual explanations. 2601:19C:527F:A660:B9FC:7AA9:5EA2:188 (talk) 19:03, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of June

[edit]

Shouldn't we try to find a picture of June with her hair spiked for the "Characters" section. It was spiked way more often than it was down (in fact, wasn't having her hair down a major plot device in one of the episodes?). It seems more representative. The Ungovernable Force 04:47, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's the publicity photo that FOX released. If you can find another good publicity photo of her, then go for it. Her hair is spiked in the group picture though. --DieHard2k5 | Talk 17:36, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but you can barely see it. The Ungovernable Force 18:43, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, If you can find one, go for it. --DieHard2k5 | Talk 19:19, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Episodes

[edit]

I've added an episode table with summaries, production numbers, etc. Feel free to add to it if there are any corrections or additions! --DieHard2k5 | Talk 20:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone went through and (badly) added dumb sex comments to the episode guide. I went through and took it out, plus added extra info here and there. --JimmyHendricks 19:58, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problem edit

[edit]

Someone with knowledge about the show should take a look at this edit. All other article edits by that IP address have been reverted, and their addition to this article looks like it should be next to go -- the word "allegedly" is a tipoff. However, I've never seen the show, so I don't think I'm qualified to remove the information. --Robertb-dc (talk) 17:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong nav box at bottom ?

[edit]

I noticed the sitcom navigation menu at the bottom of this article is for That '70s Show instead of That '80s Show. I think it should probably be either a) removed, or b) replaced with a new one for That '80s Show. Thoughts ? Teraya (talk) 03:30, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen the show, but I've created and linked a new sitcom navigation menu template based on the content at That '80s Show Soderick (talk) 11:54, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
