Lyrics

[edit]

Please explain why you systematically removed lyrics from three articles I wrote without sufficient explanation as to why. You also didn't leave me a talk page note, which it would have been courteous to do, had you noticed a pattern. I'm rather disappointed that, having interacted with you, you still facelessly and mechanically reverted without any kind of proper reasoning. Awaiting a response. Rob Church Talk | Desk 22:16, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Got you. Although, it wasn't the removal I took issue with; as we've interacted, I would have appreciated a quick reminder note. Thanks anyway. Rob Church Talk | Desk 02:16, 19 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Im concerned about this user because I dont think he understands what wikipedia is. He has yet to make an edit outside of a talk page and types in monospace and all caps. JobE6 21:17, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you made one of my orginal articles a copyright violation, Decimal odds. If you want me to verify, email me at (matt at free-bets-guide.com). Its a 100% original article.

Also while trying to do as it says to remove the copyright notice, it says to: If you hold the copyright to this material, or if you have permission to use this material under the terms of our license, please indicate so on this page's talk page and under the article's listing on Wikipedia:Copyright problems.

And at the top it says: If you have just labeled this page as a possible copyright infringement, please add a link to it on Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2005 September 29. But I can't find where you have added to the copyright problems page so I can say that it's my article.

If I was trying to just be lazy and find a prewritten article, I wouldn't have put the url in the references section. I wrote the article for my website, and I noticed wiki was missing the article, so I added it. 80.229.234.135 19:02, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration subpage

[edit]

Hi. Each of the current candidates in the Arbitration Committee election now has a subpage for people to ask questions and have a discussion with the candidate. It's linked to below your statement on the candidate statements page. Hopefully, this format will be more productive and less disruptive than the "endorsements/disendorsements" approach that caused so many problems last year.

I took the liberty of copying your candidate statement unaltered to your subpage. Feel free to elaborate on it at whatever length you wish, without the concern of space restrictions as on the main candidate page. I encourage you to put your subpage on your watchlist and discuss arbitration issues with the community as part of your campaign. --Michael Snow 03:59, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to let you know that while you recently tagged this article as a copyright violation, in truth it isn't. This article comes from the DANFS also know as the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, which is produced by the US Navy, and in turn is actually public domain. I admit that the page was not formatted properly and was just a copy and paste of whats on the navy site, but I thought you should know. I have also removed the copyvio and greatly improved that article. -- malo (talk)/(contribs) 18:56, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article Deletion

[edit]

Hello,

You deleted my article for copyright violation (db-copyvio). The article was "How to Find, Select, and Afford a Wedding Photographer". Located at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Find%2C_Select%2C_and_Afford_a_Wedding_Photographer

I am the author of this article. Please contact me at info@dhbphotography.com if you need clarification.

Thanks, .

Why is this closed? Aren't they meant to go for 7 days? - Ta bu shi da yu 02:13, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

On a side note, you closed Ecstatic's entry in AfD, the result was delete yet the article is still there. Just thoguht I'd let you know. Cheers KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 04:03, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Could you write the closure note as (for example) keep, do not move or merge? This sounds trivial, but keep as is sounds as if people agree the article should never be rewritten. I'd like to do this some day (hah) and then possibly move it to match its contents, and "keep as is" sounds as if consensus has established this must never be done, which isn't the case. JRM · Talk 13:41, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You even removed the possible ambiguity from my suggested replacement text. Well done. :-) JRM · Talk 14:50, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, isn't that the page with so many images that it singlehandedly brought down the images server once? Luigi30 (Ταλκ) 17:28, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Actually, I speculated the image servers had gone down because I went mad one night and uploaded a mass amount of MegamanZero and Oh My Goddess images; for some reason it crashed after I was done... :)-MegamanZero 17:45, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yea. I think so, my level of edits generaly overstress the wikipedia servers. The problem actualy was the coplexity of the tables not number of images, however after the incident the page was broken into first 3 and then two (total of 6) pages.
Tonikaku, I am trying to move images to commons, I already moved a large portion and the coppies on en must go to wiki hell. I'd love to give you a list but you checking my history would be much easier. It should be among the past 500 edits and it is really hard to miss :) --Cool CatTalk|@ 18:45, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Whisper number

[edit]

Are you familiar with financial terms and history? If not this should not have been deleted. I just looked up Google on this site - why is that not considered a glorified ad? I provided the definition (as found on investopedia) and I removed the link, so why has this been deleted? As noted in my talk response prior to deletion this entry can be found on numerous other sites including investopedia, freedictionary.com, investorwords.com, encarta.msn.com, and more. This is a financial term, and the definition and information provided is perhaps the most extensive found on the net. It should not have been deleted for these reasons.

It looked like an ad for whispernumber.com to me. I restored the article after looking it up on various sites and seeing it was real. Sorry. Luigi30 (Ταλκ) 14:58, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Can you remove the 'speedy deletion' tag?

Hi. I'd just like to know whatever happened to this article, which I nominated for deletion. You closed the discussion, deciding the debate result as Delete, and yet you didn't delete it, removing the AfD tags from it instead. Is there some other procedural step I'm not aware of?

While we're at it, I'm not exactly sure what should be done about Image:All Evil.jpg - does it need a different nomination (obviously a speedy deletion) or would you delete it as a result of the same discussion, seeing as it is only linked from that same article? Thanks in advance. DanielCohen 03:39, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

[edit]
Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

About Wikisource

[edit]

Hi, I was working on Chapter Two of the South African constitution. Can you tell me more about Wikisource? Regards Gregorydavid 13:49, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikisource is another wiki for hosting free documents, such as the South African Constitution. If you post it here, it'll most likely be deleted and/or moved to it anyway, so I'd suggest typing it up there. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 00:02, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I knew it was a free document, but as you can see from my edits on the subject , prior to starting Chapter Two, I wanted to explore how words from The South African Constitution could be linked to new and developing articles on Wiki. Eg we are supposed to have eleven languages, see Naledi Pandor, and our President Thabo Mbeki wants to re-write the history of Africa.. These are all major Wiki projects.. I shall look and see what Ceasar has done. Regards, Gregorydavid 07:23, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can do that from Wikisource, with m:interwiki links such as that one. From here you can provide a link to Wikisource by prefixing your link with s:, as in [[s:South African Constitution]]. You can link to here from Wikisource by prefixing it with en:, as in [[en:South African Constitution]]. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 11:24, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2

[edit]
The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.
Signed...

Since you have previously participated in discussions about the off-wiki NPA policy, I wanted to let you know about a quick opinion poll that is now posted on the Talk page there. Your input is appreciated!

Just in case you didn't know, when you tag a page as {{deletedpage}}, you should list it on Wikipedia:List of pages protected against re-creation to make people aware of the problems that have arisen. Have fun! Stifle (talk) 23:00, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

Yes Leonard Nathanson is educated. Sour grapes perhaps that you ain't so much ? His book is still read today 40 years later. I cannot understand your justication at deleting this simple entry which fills a red link gap on other entries. Norwikian 06:30, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Send it to WP:RFU if you think I deleted it in error. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 11:18, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

[edit]
The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!

  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Although I agree that this reads like a promotional piece for the book, it is also informative, and is not directing the reader of the article to a store or website where the book can be purchased. This is not a speedy deletion candidate, so I have restored the article and sent it to AfD instead. Cheers! bd2412 T 04:03, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance notices from articles unless the required changes have been made to the article. If you are uncertain whether the article requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the article's talk page before removing the notice from the article. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. Thank you. Ardenn 17:39, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How are referenced facts violating NOR? Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 17:41, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Important: This talk page is becoming very long. Please consider archiving.

Closing AfD's

[edit]

Hi, it looks like your closing a lot of today's AfD's. Are you sure those are all speediable (and if so, you should close them as such), or are you just working on the wrong page? --JoanneB 14:09, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking at May 10th's, thinking it was May 4th's. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 14:09, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You might want to go back and reopen these. Ironically, the one that Joanne reopened was probably the only one that actually should have been speedied as a recreated article! Badgerpatrol 14:20, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Could you clarify the close of this Afd please? I was a little surprised to see keep, I was expecting either delete or keep and rewrite. Due the copyvio tag in the article, Myself and Robocoder, wrote the article from scratch at Ruaidhri Conroy/Temp, Should we cut/paste (losing history), ask for the main article to be deleted, and move it, or make the edits again? Or something else? Regards, MartinRe 14:22, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keep and rewrite was what I was shooting for. I think you cut and paste unless you want to preserve history of the temp article. I'll change to keep and rewrite later. Ask on WP:AN maybe? Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 14:24, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would perfer retaining the history, and removing the current version would be good, to stop people reverting to it. Would it be possible for you to speedy the main article, and move the temp in its place as that would do the keep+re-write all in one neat go. Regards, MartinRe 14:31, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do that. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 15:15, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As suggested, I'll drop a quick note on WP:AN for the above. Regards, MartinRe 14:41, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot, much obliged! Regards, MartinRe 15:17, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 15:17, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tonya And Nancy: The Opera

[edit]

How do you make it a delete vote? I count 5 Keeps to 4 Deletes. Vizjim 08:55, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Half of the keeps were from anon IPs, and anon votes aren't counted. Luigi30 (Ταλκ το mε) 13:37, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dexter Yager

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you closed the AfD for Dexter Yager but the article hasn't been deleted yet. Do you know when it will be deleted? Aguerriero (talk) 14:55, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right now ;) Luigi30 (Taλk) 16:02, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
