The article was misnamed. A common mistake. There is no 's' on the end of "Right". MPLX/MH 20:46, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Merge proposal

[edit]

After starting a bit of work on Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society, after repeatedly seeing references to "APRA AMCOS" in various sources doing other work, I am thinking that these two may as well be merged, with separate sections describing each. They share a website, and on this page, it says: "APRA AMCOS is one organisation". It looks as if members have to belong to APRA before they can elect to join AMCOS (see here). Thoughts? Merge I largely agree with your proposal. Note that there are differences in their spheres of interest and they do have separate directorial boards. To eliminate duplication you should carefully write the AMCOS section. To help with that consider, this summary, from Music in Australia website.
Aside, I think you misunderstood the page, "What type of account do you need?": from my reading one can become a member of APRA and AMCOS at the same time provided one is a writer or composer of original music. You don't have to be an APRA member first: however, if you are already an APRA member then you can also become an AMCOS member. AMCOS has members who are music publishers but not necessarily writers/composers.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:48, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - Thanks, Shaidar cuebiyar. I'm away for a few weeks at the moment and relying on poor connections and keyboards, so I'll come back to it when I'm back. That link of yours won't load at the moment. I didn't phrase it very well above but had the same understanding re joining AMCOS - I meant one can't just join AMCOS without being a member of APRA as well, as far as I can see. Anyway I'll get into the nitty-gritty when I get back to it, thanks. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 17:38, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Reply @Laterthanyouthink: Link still works for me. Try the straight url: here, which seems to be active – more than 12 years later. In any case, enjoy your time off.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:17, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Reply @Shaidar cuebiyar: Thanks for that - that link works and I had a quick look. Nice clear explanation, which I will use when I get to it. (The archived link may not work for me because of slow download time here?) Laterthanyouthink (talk) 17:49, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
