Controversy[edit]

"There has been controversy over whether PMCs in active combat zones should be considered mercenaries." I don't see how, it can be a controversy and which controversy? Of who? And why specifically those in active combat zones? --78.193.35.108 (talk) 11:03, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Then what is the difference between PMCs, and PSCs? To me they're the same. As are gendarmes, and policemen. Just not used over the same missions. But apart from that, there's close to no difference.--Joujyuze (talk) 11:15, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's an enormous difference. A PMC by definition is a private company that performs work for *the military*, but there is no distinction about what type of work they do (only for whom they do it). A PSC does not necessarily work for the military, and strictly does security work. Pretty substantial difference when you consider that the company that refuels F-16s is a PMC but not a PSC, while the company that provides mall rent-a-cops is a PSC but not a PMC.SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 18:56, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
