[edit]

So I've created the Of a Revolution page, its a start, but it needs work, lots of work so any help would be appreciated. I've tried my best, and put everything in my own words.

My sources would be:

Genre Change

[edit]

It's pretty apparent from listening to their albums up to Stories of a Stranger and the albums after it that the genre and feel of their music changed from what they used to describe as "RootsIslandRock" to more of mainstream poprock style. I've been to several of their concerts over the years and felt this was true from a live performance standpoint as well. Is this shift worth discussing in the article as well? (assuming of course it can be sourced.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.197.150.136 (talk) 01:40, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

I've removed the unnecessary (band) from the title, as there is no need to disambiguate the phrase "Of a Revolution" from any other encyclopedic topics that I know of. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 17:05, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)

Upcoming Events

[edit]

I removed the Upcoming Event section as this was blatant promotion of events for the band. Wikipedia is not for advertising. Please see WP:NOT policy for more information. GregChant 01:37, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How credible is the statement about a new album in early 2008?

"Crazy Game"

[edit]

Wasn't "Crazy Game Of Poker" released as a single? DocStrange ...

It was used as the theme song to the 2005 National Heads-up Poker Championship, aired on NBC

"Heard the World"

[edit]

Why isn't it listed as a single? I hear it everyday on the local rock station.

Good point, it should be. Lead singer Marc Roberge confirmed the rumor on OARfans.com. Edpaffjr 22:56, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Shouldn't this section also link to the oarsa.org lyric page? Not only are all studio album lyrics there but also live versions of many songs along with freestyles. I tried to add it myself but it was removed since I am the author of the site. Edpaffjr 22:55, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How about a compromise, I moved the other lyrics link down with the rest, and updated the description of your site. --Bill.matthews 23:02, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I like the changes, thanks Bill. Edpaffjr 23:05, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:InBetweenNowandThen.jpg

[edit]

Image:InBetweenNowandThen.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:33, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should be at O.A.R.

[edit]

I think that's a much more common name for this band than Of A Revolution. Andre (talk) 00:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

O.A.R. redirects here and OAR is a disambiguation page that links here. I reckon the article should be moved to Of a Revolution (lowercase a), in compliance with the manual of style guidelines. Strobilus (talk) 17:15, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:COMMONNAME this article should definitely be at O.A.R.Chris NelsonHolla! 01:32, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

They seem to lie between several genres. We should at least add ska as a genre.
Barrett Ross (talk) 21:30, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- do you have any rationale for this? They don't feature a big selection of ska.. only a few songs. They definetly used to be on the jam circuit though. If anything, their genre should be Corporate Pop, as the creative aspect of their music has been lost to the unwilling mainstream.

[edit]

Anyone have an issue with me adding a link to Jam Radio - offers free downloads and streaming audio of some OAR live shows... legal and sanctioned. It is a site I am somewhat affiliated with, so I have to ask first, but it is listed for other bands such as Phil Lesh and Friends, Donna Jean and the Tricksters and The Grapes. Addionne (talk) 15:34, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All the recordings available on this Jam Radio site are already available to stream and download from the Archive, to which there is already an external link, so I don't see how a link to Jam Radio would add anything to the article. The Archive also provides more info about the recordings. Strobilus (talk) 22:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that the article Marc Roberge be merged here. It has no references and most of the content is trivial. What can be verified should be added here where it can be read in context with the band. DoubleBlue (Talk) 19:11, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Artist Pages

[edit]

So, I understand the purpose of having Marc Roberge, Chris Culos, Richard On, Benj Gershman, Jerry DePizzo, and Mikel Paris redirecting to this main page, as they currently do. Per WP:NN and WP:BIO, that makes sense. But why are there links to all of these artist pages from the main page (see: opening paragraph)? That recursion seems counter-intuitive and frankly idiotic to me. TheTrueSora (talk) 22:25, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Love Is Worth The Fall as a single

[edit]

Should Love Is Worth The Fall be added as a single? There is a single of that song avaliable on iTunes. Bramblestar (ShadowClan Leader) (talk) 00:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

O.A.R. discography

[edit]

Support split - @Erpert:, discography section is long and should be split to a new article entitled O.A.R. discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:31, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1st OAR song written

[edit]

According to Marc himself, in various venues, "Hey Girl" was the 1st song they wrote "just hanging out with their friends". 2601:547:80:CAE0:382B:FD6D:C72F:F031 (talk) 11:57, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
