Strib

[edit]

I am just curious why you relink Strib back to Minneapolis StarTribune when the only article that links to that word is a Danish Bridge which has nothing to do with the newspaperSmith03 16:40, 1 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

The page was blank, and it appears to be a valid name for the newspaper. I've made it into a separate page that mentions the town in Denmark. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Wmahan. 17:12, 2004 May 1 (UTC)

"the or not to the"

[edit]

Wil, People have been shot for less. Argghhh! ww 18:22, 4 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Wil, A good beginning. More groveling, and perhaps some sniveling now.....
If this sort of thing is characteristic, how -- in the name of all that's Holy -- have you lived long enough to reach college? ww 19:58, 4 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
Wil, Hah, now I've got you over a barrel. What to demand for not turning you in....? I've got it! A look over some of the general crypto articles for obscurities and fog and general clunk, noting same on the Talk page. I'll let you off easy, no editing...
Seriously, I'll take whatever I can get as a new eye. However I can get 'em. Including blackmail. There's an annotated list of articles at Topics in cryptography. It's too easy to write crypto stuff that's too technical, too in crowd, too obscure. Don't bother with the necessarily technical articles (with math, diagrams, computer code, ...). Nobody expects the average user to even read them, much less understand them...
In your copious spare time, of course. Congratulations. You'll find life after graduation somewhat different, I assure you. ww 20:30, 4 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Wil, Since I know you care about this issue, I thought I'd send a heads up about the new discussion page in re cypher v cipher at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cryptography. I've summarized various folks views at current standings and since we've discussed this, I included you. You might want to drop by to check my summary is correct. You may also enjoy some of the TT.

I presume you're now away from the bosom of Mother Duke and enjoying the fun of complete and total independence. I remember the terror.... Hope all is going well. ww 18:48, 26 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

adminship

[edit]

You have done really good work to Wikipedia lately. I want to nominate you for adminship. If you accept the nomination, please reply here. --Lst27 23:12, 5 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Note: after originally saying I would accept, I decided to withdraw my name from consideration, because it may be too early. Thanks anyway! Wmahan. 19:00, 2004 May 6 (UTC)
Ok. I understand. I probably will nominate you later (maybe in June or July, after you have enough experience here). --Lst27 00:26, 7 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

What's there to explain? Since we have the footnote at the beginning, why do we need to continue saying "Saddam Hussein" over and over again? 172 06:37, 7 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Saddam > Saddam Hussein

[edit]

There is an article war going on at Saddam Hussein. The anon user who provided you with information on the article talk page has been repeatedly reverting edits that change his/her edits of Saddam > Saddam Hussein back to Saddam. They have set up at least two possibly more user accounts.

I agree with your assertions that Saddam Hussein is the best designation and have been disappointed that there has not seemed to be much of a response to your queries. I think that a final decision needs to be made on which name the article is going to use.

Please contact me at my talk page with your response.

Michael Peter Woroniecki

[edit]

Thanks for proof reading my article on Michael Peter Woroniecki and providing corrections to typos and spelling errors. It was a long article, and I appreciate you taking your time to do so.

"Youseff"

[edit]

re: User:Wmahan/Other misspellings, "Youseff" is not necessarily incorrect. Badanedwa 04:17, Jun 18, 2004 (UTC)

History of Japan

[edit]

You wrote "The Japanese sought awful destruction. They raped, pillaged, and killed." and this is simply not a way to write an article. If you check WW2 part of History of Germany or History of the Soviet Union, nowhere is similar claim presented even though they had both tried to exterminate each other through a massive genocide. Upon entering Berlin, Stalin personally gave order to "rape and kill every German they can find" to the Red Army and this kind of evidence is essential to making such a blantant claim. If you do have something to back up this claim, please write here - Talk:History of Japan. Revth 03:06, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I think you have mistaken me for someone else. Wmahan. 22:19, 2004 Jul 27 (UTC)

Hello. Can you help correct the links to odds-ratio, now a redirect page? Thanks. Michael Hardy 16:25, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Done. Sorry I didn't get around to it earlier. Wmahan. 16:48, 2004 Aug 27 (UTC)

From your edit summary on Luminiferous aether:

consistant->consistent, innacurate->inaccurate, apperatus->apparatus, adbandonment->abandonment, abberation->aberration, adbandon->abandon

Wow. You could have just said "spelling corrections" and let people use diff to figure it out, you know. You're way more dedicated to leaving a detailed edit summary than I. :) Bryan 03:19, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Well, I have to confess that I'm not dedicated enough to do it by hand, either. :) I wrote a script that fills in the edit summary automatically as I make spelling corrections. I figure it would allow people to spot mistaken corrections (which has happened once in the several thousand articles I fixed). If it starts to get annoying, I could change the summary to "sp" or something similar. Wmahan. 03:38, 2004 Aug 30 (UTC)
