Request

[edit]

I request that someone please write a detail account of the story for Lunar:_Silver_Star_Story and Final_Fantasy_VII. Lunar SSS and FF7 are classic RPGs, but their story section is highly summarized. For an example of a detail account of the story, section, please look at FF6.

In the story section of Final_Fantasy_VI, a lot of details are given, such as Kefka poisoning the water supply in the siege of Doma Castle, Terra unable to accept herself being a half-esper, the balance of the world is destroyed, etc. However in the summarized FF7 story section, nothing is mentioned about the death of Aeris in the hands of Sephiroth, Meteor threat, Tifa helping Cloud overcoming his psychological problem, etc.

Request: If anyone have free time and can write a good article, please spend some time writing a more detailed story for Lunar SSS and FF7.

This doesn't sound Neutral PoV to me:

"This game has substantial differences from the Sega CD original version. The scenario was changed substantially from the original version, in many ways thought to be for the worse. The music was re-written and changed from redbook CD audio to compressed PCM audio. The result was a far less impressive score with lower sound quality. The size of game itself (overworlds and dungeons) shrunk substantially from the original game and a number of areas were completely removed. As a result diehard fans of the series prefer the original version of the game to any of its many remakes."

Similar criticism is also found on the Saturn version of the game's page. Haoie 09:02, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Quote "Both the music and the graphics seem dated according to most players; far below the bar set by contemporary PlayStation CRPGs such as Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII." This looks POV to me. Personally, I think the graphics and music are more dated in FF7. There's masterful composing of course by Uemetsu in that game, and I love the music, but the instruments sound like old dated midi (and it doesn't use CDDA either). Also, in FF7, the characters don't have fingers or mouths, and they use invisible cell phones. I'm not just saying it to say I think Lunar looks better; just that unless there's a source, it would be just as wrong for me to change it to "The music and graphics are ahead of their time according to most players, with much more detail and robust musical instrumentation far greater than that of FF7 and FF8". This page doesn't see much activity, so I'll most likely just change it myself later on. --ScarletSpiderDave 02:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree..I love te graphics and heraing that sound soffensive to me..Very POV.

Move Characters to New Page?

[edit]

I think the characters section should be moved to a new page. Also, it shouldn't be in with spoilers, because it's quite the opposite. --ScarletSpiderDave 06:24, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added Spoiler

[edit]

Added a spoiler under the "Four Heroes" section because it lists Ghaleon as the Magic Emperor, while this is important, it is a plot twist, hence the spoiler warning Canada2k8 06:59, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Japan exclusive video games?

[edit]

Why does this game fall under this category? It's not exclusive to Japan, proven by the USA release. -- Jelly Soup 12:33, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler warning tags

[edit]

I find the semi-automatic removal of spoiler warning tags across the entire video games section of Wikipedia a bit unnerving. A number of well-placed spoiler warnings have been removed simply because they are under a heading that can have spoilers. I think it is particularly grievous that the tags have been removed from this game's page because they were making clear distinctions between those parts that contain spoilers and those that are spoiler-free -- within the sections that can be "expected" to have spoilers. So I propose that all spoiler tags be reinstated (except for the one at the start of the Storyline section), as they were in [this revision] of the page. GA review

[edit]

Overall, a good article. A few concerns, however, need to be addressed:

  • I think the lead needs reorganising. Move the reception content to the bottom with the mention of the sequel, and have the plot info as a standalone paragraph in the middle. Done
  • Because the designers felt she didn't have enough presence in the original, Luna was also included in the player's party for a longer period, as well as expanding the character's past by giving her confounding dream sequences. – How about this: As the game’s designers felt that Luna was lacking presence in the original game, she was included in the player's party for a longer period and her past was expanded by giving her confounding dream sequences. Done
  • Ghaleon's personality is altered to make him a more sympathetic character, citing his reason for evil as a way to give the world a leader he believes it needs for its survival, no matter how cruel his actions. – Took a long time for me to understand that sentence. Try braking it up into two sentences. Done
  • Mega Sega-CD needs to be consistent throughout the article. I’ve seen both Mega-CD and Sega-CD. Done
  • What’s an “emotional stock”? Done
  • Traveling through the Weird Woods, Luna sings a magic song to clear a patch of thick fog in their path, though is unsure how she knew to do it. – The last part of the sentence is confusing. Can you reword it a little? Done
  • The group is surrounded by a group of monsters – Group is used twice. Find another synonym. Done
  • Finding Alex's quest to become Dragonmaster humorous, he nonetheless wishes him and his friends luck as they leave the forest. – Who is “he”? If it’s Laike, then say so. Done
  • Unlike the original Sega-CD version, Luna continues with Alex rather than stay behind with their parents to give her a bigger role in the plot. – Who’s parents are we talking about? Done
  • Despondent, Alex returns home to contemplate his next action where he encounters Laike, who tells him his secret - he is the famous Dragonmaster Dyne, now without his power. – Try this: Despondent, Alex returns home to contemplate his next action. He encounters Laike, who tells him his secret: he is the famous Dragonmaster Dyne, now without his power. Done
  • Alex's teams attacks – I thought there was only one team. Done
  • I prefer the Development section before the Audio section, but that’s your call. Done
  • "Express myself through my honest emotions" -> "Express [myself] through [my] honest emotions". Done
  • Tons of red links throughout the article. Either remove them or write articles about them. Done
  • Characters' voices are used in pre-designated cut scenes, as well as animated interludes and when using special attacks in battle. Try this: The characters' voices are used in pre-designated cut scenes, animated interludes and when using special attacks in battle. Done
  • Links shouldn’t be linked twice or more when in the same section. There’s some double-linking in the voice actors box. Done
  • Game Arts sought to improve The Silver Star – Change The Silver Star to original version. Done
  • Breaking the fourth wall. – Needs to be linked. Done
  • Create up to fifteen saves instead of three. – I’m more comfortable with “save files”. Done
  • Why is punching piped with puppet? Done
  • Rename the "critical response" section to "reception" as it also contains sales and not only critical response from reviewers. Done
  • In refs, the “work” parametre is only used for magazines and such. Websites like RPGFan should use the “publisher” parameter. Done
  • I’d prefer that you use the YYYY-MM-DD for the dates in the {{cite web}} templates, but that’s a personal preference and is not necessary. However, I strongly recommend that you change “year” to “date” when there are full dates. Also, notable gaming publications like IGN and GameSpot should be linked. Done
  • National Console Support staff and Magic Box staff – Not necessary if it’s not stated on the site, like with IGN Staff. Done
  • There are a few empty parameters in the refs, like “format”. Remove them. Done
  • Individual years aren’t necessary in the “year” parameter. Only full dates should be included. Done

Let me know when the concerns have been addressed. The Prince (talk) 00:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First, thanks for the quick and thorough review. I didn't realize I had been doing cite web wrong this whole time with the publisher/work mix-up. Anyway, I took care of everything you had a problem with. I changed every instance of Mega-CD/Sega Mega-CD to just Sega-CD, since the only English region the game was released in called it that, and it stays consistent with all the English sources I provided that way. I also kept the audio section above development because of a weird formatting bug that occurs on my monitor when the un-collapsed voiced actor box crashes the review table into the references. If there's anything else that needs a face-lift or something you don't understand, I'll take a look at it as well. Nall (talk) 01:32, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article has passed. Thanks for your hard work improving the article and congratulations with a GA. The Prince (talk) 05:35, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Differences btw Sega CD and PS versions

[edit]

we used to have a list of the major differences between the 2 versions and they were removed, why? This is relevant to the game as the motivations for the main villian have changed, several major characters were added, and the nature of the plot changes, which makes a difference because it also makes the story conflict in some ways with the remake of the sequel, which doesn't take the changes into account. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tggdan3 (talkcontribs) 14:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grammy?

[edit]

Since when was "Luna's Boat Song" nominated for a Grammy? There seems to be no evidence that this actually happened. CannonWolf (talk) 00:29, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
