Stub?

[edit]

when is a entry no longer a stub? some movies Sleeping with the Enemy (1991 film) seem like they are large enough to not be stubs any more... Jabencarsey 04:07, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Science Fiction Stubs

[edit]

I noticed that there is a science fiction stub category, but it has no films in it, so I have started to move films to this stub category from the main film stubs page. I also added the science fiction template to the list on the front page. Plus I agree that we need a horror stub. --Cooksey 20:41, 8 December 2005 (UTC) I've also just realised that the film stub page and the templates contained on it are very different than the stubs contained on the total stub list. I'll rectify the matter.--Cooksey 22:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stub Boundaries

[edit]

At what point does an article cease to be a stub? You certainly don't want the entire plot exposed; how many of the cast/crew should be name-checked? Is it necessary to have a picture (and if so where do you get such under the GFDL)? I assume that every notable movie should be linked to the appropriate entry at the IMDb: are there other standard external links? --Phil | Talk 10:55, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)

We need to define rules. Something like a movie article ceases to be a stub if:
  1. It has an introduction introducing the film plot at a basic level and some facts about the movie (release date for example)
  2. A clearer plot summary with the {{spoiler}} warning on top
  3. A list of notable cast and crew, wikified wherever an article already exists.
  4. External links, at least one of which is an imdb link

split stub please.

[edit]

There are lots of comedy and drama movies that are tagged as a film stub. I suggest somebody should make a comedy stub and a drama stub please. At this point, I am going to tag the category with this template: {{gettingbig}} --SuperDude 2 July 2005 19:57 (UTC)

Catamorphism 06:54, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder where I should put a thriller. Is is a drama? Or should I wait and see if there is going to be a thriller stub? Herostratus 16:58, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say wait and see for now. I think it was mentioned at some point as a possibility, so it might happen; it'll be easier to tell if it's needed once things get sorted into the current categories. --Mairi 03:37, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like a award or festival category would help a lot... Jabencarsey 02:57, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've just gone through A-G and I noticed that the category that seems most needed is Thriller or Action, and also maybe War. Plus a Festival one would be useful. I've subcategorised all the films that I could from A-G and I'll get to the rest later.--Cooksey 18:26, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There already is a war stub. See {{war-film-stub}}. Thunderbrand 19:01, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Festivals would fall under {{film-award-stub}} superman 00:21, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Correct category?

[edit]

Which is the preferred category for film genre stubs, Category:Film genre stub categories or Category:Film Genre stubs? Thanks - Her Pegship 02:07, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The correct one is Category:Film genre stubs, using {{Film-genre-stub}} (Answering here for posterity's sake, I know you've already heard the answer.) - Bobet 01:15, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Drama stubs redistribution

[edit]

There's a discussion at Stub sorting proposals over possible sub-cats for the "drama-film-stub" category, if anyone's interested in putting their 2 cents in. Cheers, Her Pegship 20:29, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New films by country stubs

[edit]

There are two new stub cats in film stubs - {{France-film-stub}} and {{Italy-film-stub}}. Feel free to populate them; try not to overlap too much. I created them in hope of diminishing the population of {{drama-film-stub}}. Cheers, Her Pegship 04:35, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And now for something completely different...{{UK-film-stub}}! Cheers, Her Pegship 20:40, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unplaceable articles

[edit]

There are so many film institutes, film festivals, film organizations, film production companies, etc. which have categories, but no stub cat; that don't really belong in {{filming-stub}}, nor {{film-studio-stub}}; where should they go? Her Pegship 19:10, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New stub types

[edit]

Check out {{film-company-stub}}, for companies which don't make films but provide services to the film industry (special effects, talent agencies, licensing, etc.) and {{film-org-stub}}, for film archives, institutes, and other film organizations. Cheers, Her Pegship 21:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been at it again

[edit]

Actually, it was Alai's idea. So now we have {{action-film-stub}}. Have fun. Her Pegship 04:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting

[edit]

I've just sorted the sub-cats into three groups -- by genre, country, and general film-related subject. If you hate it, feel free to revert; but I thought this might be helpful for stub-sorters. Cheers, Her Pegship 04:18, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article is still kept on the film stub page when this is added to an article. Could someone fix that? I didn't create it and don't have any interest in it, I'm just doing some stub-sorting and tagging for WikiProject Films and came across it. I thought I'd give you guys a heads-up. Cbrown1023 02:49, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think I fixed it, but you guys should check it out. Cbrown1023 03:00, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New stub types

[edit]

We now have {{2000s-thriller-film-stub}}, {{2000s-romance-film-stub}}, and {{2000s-comedy-drama-film-stub}}. Have at it. Cheers! Her Pegship (tis herself) 21:50, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
