Awesome find! - Fredrik | talk 08:42, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm happy I found it myself; the article has been a mere list of games long enough. A little Googling every now and again can lead to interesting results. Retodon8 09:58, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Halloween Harry

[edit]

I'll help you with the article if you want, it deserves to get made --larsinio 20:22, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I don't have anything written yet, but I planned on using the Sandbox link on my personal page to start working on something. If you have another suggestion, shoot. There is the Halloween Harry Webshrine we can use for some quick fact-checking. There don't seem to be many fan pages, although I haven't Googled HH/AC for a while. One

[edit]

Oh, I don't know that deep english technical, but I find it very intersting. That person who corrected it was Ervin (as far as I remember, just look the history), and she/he changed it in a lot of places! Maybe you want to go to her modification and change all of that person's fixing and re-fix them all! :P Thanks for the interest.

Featured article for December 25th

[edit]

I noticed that you have listed yourself as an atheist Wikipedian. You will probably be interested to know that Brian0918 has nominated Omnipotence paradox as the front page article for December 25th. You can vote on this matter here. The other suggestion being supported by others for that date is Christmas, although Raul654 has historically been against featuring articles on the same day as their anniversary/holiday. Hi, I posted a quick comment / reply to you over at Wikipedia_talk:Redirect#Links_to_redirects_in_a_different_colour?, and noticed that the discussion ended a while ago and so I thought I'd give you a quick note to let you know. Cheers, Qirex 03:11, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update, coincidently I was just wondering about this last evening. To answer your question over there: I have no idea how to get a feature like that implemented. It should be very possible, although it'll probably take longer to render pages. Checking if an articles exists (red or blue link) is a matter of checking for a database entry, but checking if the page is a redirect means reading through that specific database entry itself. Of course redirects are relatively small pages anyway. Retodon8 16:56, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Duke Nukem page: I just wanted to let you know about As of links. They allow statements that date quickly to be tracked, and are different from linking years. Qutezuce 04:28, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; I didn't know that. I followed an "As of" link a long time ago, and although I'm starting to doubt my memory now, I think I ended up at a specific page which (automatically) collected all those facts or something like that. Later I was just redirected by such a link, no proof of those things being useful, so I figured the "As of" system ended up being deprecated or something. Sorry for the de-linking! VWN en WCN

[edit]

Beste Retodon8,

WLM Beta

[edit]

In this edit, part of your comment read, "For instance can't find "Spell Check As You Type" anywhere in the program or help feature." WLM's official blog, in this entry from last November, includes "Spell Check as you Type" as the third new feature. --M@thwiz2020 22:06, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link! Reading the blog however, I notice Imran Qureshi also capitalizes both words in the "Safety Improvements" and "Improved Error Message Discoverability" headers, and isn't consistant with the capitalizing of the "Spell Check as you Type"/"Spell Check As You Type" header either. That along with what I already mentioned, leads me to believe that he's just not quite consistant with his header capitalizing, and that those aren't official feature names, also because of what I mentioned earlier. I suppose it's no real proof either way though. :) Retodon8 22:54, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me?

[edit]

At the Cosmo disambiguation page, you typed an edit summary of "(RattleMan, changing a working link back to its redirecting state is not "fixing".)". Let me show you what exactly I did:

Originally, it looked like this:

I changed it to this:

The link still leads to the EXACT same place, the link is just moved over to the left and piped to fit with the look of all the other "Cosmo" links.

Later, after I had made my edit, someone ELSE changed it into Cosmo (Sonic X), which redirected to Minor characters in Sonic the Hedgehog#Cosmo.

Please take care to look closer before you say something like that. Please reply to this message on my talkpage. -- RattleMan 00:07, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I got you mixed up with "SeventyThree" (edit: you figured that out now; I took too long writing this reply). The change you made before that obscured the actual article/bookmark name, but I since learned that is one of the exceptions that's allowed by the Manual of Style. Actually I checked Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Piping just now, and it seems SeventyThree's edit wasn't wrong either (although the word "fixed" still seems incorrect). So, consider me a bit more enlightened about the subject, and sorry about the confusement/"accusation"! (Added this here for myself, I'll paste it onto your Talk page as well now.) Retodon8 00:40, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, it's no problem at all. I had thought that was what happened. :) -- RattleMan 00:45, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Replied to your comment on the talk page at this article regarding deleting the redirect. -- JLaTondre 02:26, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A while back, I came into conflict with User:Xino over the Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict and Unreal Tournament 2007 articles, and I remembered that you were very valuable in resolving the situation. I've since submitted a Request for Comment regarding his behaviour in recent months, and since you have some experience with him in the past, I'd greatly appreciate your input. I'd be very grateful if you would endorse the summary I provided on that page, or at least provide a comment at the talk page. Many thanks. :) RandyWang 01:48, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A little late, I wish I hadn't procrastinated and then forgot about it for a while, but I wrote a little response now. Pretty much everything had been said already. His own edits speak for themselves. I don't want Xino banned (somehow he thinks, or at least thought that is what this is about), but getting this conflict resolved would be nice, so we can all use our energy for more constructive things. Well, just read what I wrote there, no need to go into it here as well. Retodon8 13:19, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this - I'm really grateful to you. :) I don't really want him banned: I'm more interested in him changing his behaviour (particularly in the ways I noted on the RfC's talk page), but I'm willing to take this to arbitration if he refuses to. Thanks again for your endorsement, there - it's really appreciated. RandyWang (raves/rants) 21:56, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We've taken the case to arbitration. While I haven't listed you as an active member in the dispute, I'd appreciate if you'd consider adding yourself to it, since parts of the case concern his conduct at the Unreal Tournament pages. Thanks in advance. RandyWang (raves/rants) 09:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:User Single Male

[edit]

Hi, I notice that you are using Template:User Single Male, which has been moved to {{User:UBX/singlemale}}. The link currently being used on your page is a cross-namespace redirect and will probably not last. It may be advisable to change the link. Thanks. —Mira 23:39, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I fixed it up for you. Happy editing! —Mira 09:02, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Retodon!

I don't think your merging of the two disambigs is a good idea. We had that before and it was overcomplex and confusing. I do agree with you that generally plurals should link to the singular. But here we are not only talking about the plural of worm: Neither Worms, Germany nor Worms as a family name means the plural of worm. The game's name on the other hand is connected to the little animals, still it is called 'Worms' and not 'Worm'. Therefore I'd be happy if you reverted your changes yourself.

Thank you, PanchoS 02:35, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello PanchoS! I'm not convinced reverting is a good idea. I don't see anything complex or confusing. (Also as a matter of fact I did check the Talk pages, but nothing about that earlier discussion, so I decided to be bold.) On second thought, it probably would've been better to make a "Worm", "The Worm", and a "Worms" section (header) for easier searching. Since there are only 2 links on "persons" right now (well, 3 if you count the name example, but I noticed that's already on the linked DAB page, so it shouldn't be there anyway), putting those in a loose paragraph actually does add some complexity. I'll change that now to show what I mean...
The family name may not be connected to the animal, but does that matter? Look at "Mister" (accidently found that just now), which currently refers to 2 completely unrelated articles. There's nothing wrong with that, since if people are looking for either subject, they probably won't even be thinking about homonyms, and will pick the right link from the DAB page by description. Also I looked in the Manual of Style on DAB pages and plural redirects, and didn't find anything about exceptions.
It would be illogical for me to change something into something I think is worse, and for a reason I personally don't even see, so I'm not going to do it. Like I said, I did make the page simpler just now. If you (or anyone else) change it back, I'll leave it alone though, I'm not looking for an edit war, I just think it's better this way. Joe Siegler

[edit]

They've nominated my article for deletion again. Would appreciate it if you could drop by the page and say something about it. It feels unfair for me to be back here again after the article survived once before. What's to stop people from doing it a third or fourth time? Thanks, Dopefish 03:17, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Citations and Star Wars

[edit]

Hi, I reverted your removal of the {{citation needed}} template over on List of Star Wars races (K-O) and since you indicated in your edit summary that you knew of a supporting reference for this fact I was hoping you'd come back to the article and put it in. The Star Wars articles on Wikipedia suffer from a significant dearth of referencing to back up their information, I've made it an impromptu project out of trying to improve the situation but I lack knowledge about the Expanded Universe to provide them myself. If you're not familiar with footnote formatting just stick a URL or other source in and I'll follow along tidying everything up. Bryan 23:10, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding those Star Wars Database refs! That's exactly the sort of improvement I was hoping for in these articles. :) Bryan 17:56, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was a little late responding to your request, but there you are. :) I figured I'd add a few more while I was at it, until dinner time anyway. I agree about the many missing references, I just figured it wasn't necessary in this case. Some of the others I added were a bit harder to find. Some statements I didn't find a reference for at the official Star Wars site. Hopefully someone else will add those. Retodon8 18:33, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Computer and video games

[edit]

Regarding your move from Caesar (computer game) to Caesar (video game), you stated as reason for Wikipedia standards. To my knowledge it has always been a computer game if it was primarily released for Personal Computers and a video game if it was for game consoles. Is there a written definition you are referring to? -- Darklock 21:58, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the slow reply, and sorry for this being so short, but I just lost a more elaborate reply by some really unuseful key combination I found by accident. :( Basically see the Talk page for Video game, and the actual article. I just noticed it has been moved, and the reasoning is there for us to read, which I'll do later myself. Before that I decided not to move articles concerning video and/or computer games anymore though. Retodon8 23:38, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TuHan-Bot

[edit]

Thank you for your report! You can solve this problem if you move all the interwiki link to nl.wiki (I don't know the nl language). In the history, you can see that other bots have ever added this link from nl.wiki. Cheers,--Tranletuhan (talk) 07:36, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:45, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Hocus Pocus (video game)

[edit]

The article Hocus Pocus (video game) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable game, no sources found.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
