Jukkailu

[edit]

While doing some cleanup about translations, I noticed that you asked for the page Jukkailu to be deleted because "it is a joke page" but you didn't make any remark at Wikipedia:pages needing translation into English where it was being discussed. The page was, indeed, deleted, but I'm a little uncomfortable about how it happened: It wasn't translated, and you gave no indication of what it said before having it deleted.

Please, in the future, if asking for the deletion of a page with the "notenglish" tag, it would be useful if you either weigh in at Wikipedia:pages needing translation into English or give a little more context for what's wrong with the page. The chance that the admin who deleted it could check the accuracy of your statement is small. -- Jmabel | Talk 22:53, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)

I speak Finnish and the page in question was a vulgar and certainly unencyclopedic inside joke (involving the conduct of someone called Jukka while playing computer games with his friends), and as the language it was written in had already been established, I didn't think a further explanation was needed, though I can see why I probably should have been more specific. I am still learning the various policies involved in contributing to Wikipedia, and I will try my best to be clearer on these matters in the future. Squidwina 14:52, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. Remember that once the page is gone, no one but admins can examine it, so it's really helpful to have a bit clearer characterization of what was removed. -- Jmabel | Talk 17:55, Mar 3, 2005 (UTC)
