Esterification

[edit]

How readily does phenol form esters? Is there any special conditions that are required, like reflux or maybe an acid catalyst? Would it be easier to esterify it to a carboxylic acid than an alcohol? Can the reactant be a catalyst too? I assume it would be easier still to esterify with a diacid like oxalic acid? I assume oxalyl chloride is even faster still. I am trying to make phenyl oxalate ester, what is the best method without steling chemicals from my college lab? Lots of questions :) mastodon 23:24, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DPRK nuclear test

[edit]

Fox news is now saying the seismic test may have indicated the test failed. In other words, I was right and this is simply speculative. There is, as far as I can tell, no reliable source confirming that this was a nuclear test. KazakhPol 03:58, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Steve Hoffman‎

[edit]

I suggest you take a look at what I did. I added multiple signatures, and did my best to separate comments by date. Unfortunately, the lack of signatures made it impossible to completely clean up the mess, as editors had already erroneously assumed that comments made almost two years ago were part of this months discussion. --Ronz 21:02, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
