Unclear ending of etymology

[edit]

The end of the second sentence, "meaning owner of means or comrade" doesn't seem to make sense. Con+sors indicate the sharing of the same fate, so "comrade" is understandable, but what does "owner of means" mean?

I'm also going to add the mention of the plural (consortia) if if it not there yet. A lot of English speakers mistakenly say "a consortia". --Claude (talk) 01:34, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Word origin first

[edit]

It's asking you to discuss the word origin. Not give your opinion on where you think it should go. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.64.103.212 (talk) 20:35, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I personally feel that the orgin of Consortium should not be in the opening sentence. Does anyone else think it would make more sense to put it at the end of the initial paragraphs? To me, the first sentence should tell you precisely what a consortium is, not where it came from. Gantry 15:35, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely. Done. Nurg 23:49, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Additionally it would be useful to make the difference with joint venture.

Terminology

[edit]

I miss some terminology/vocabulary things... Like, what are called the consortium participants. What is called when you're choosed to win the prize? Etc. It helps when a non-native speaker is trying to write about this and doesn't know all terms. Normal general-purpose dictionaries rarely are useful for this purpose. Thanks. • Ekevu 14:04, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It should specify the relation between the consortium members and their liability from the the taxation and others point of view. It should also specify whether its mandatory to form a SPV or JV for the Consortioum. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.90.76.162 (talk) 11:18, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of a list of Consortium's

[edit]

I think it would a great idea to start a list of consortium's so that when users arrive one can see what are the different kinds of consortium's. Davidmight (talk) 21:02, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Octopus group

[edit]

Please consider editing Wiktionary and adding a link here if you want to claim this word is used in reference to octopus life. Bring evidence. Social behavior in any octopus was not observed until recently. Relevant news item at National Geographic Society. --Minopret (talk) 11:29, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why is "World" a link in the "Examples" section? Is there any particular reason, or should I just remove it? 70.176.192.205 (talk) 04:26, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
