Analysis in which it is allowed that refutation of a point of evidence for a proposition does not automatically mean the refutation of the proposition. Also: that while a particular piece of evidence for a proposition is false, the proposition may yet be true.

Derived from a Virginia Postrel weblog post in which a comparison is made to an old Certs commercial where it is debated whether Certs is a breath mint or a candy mint.
