"Ibn" (Arabic "son of") tells me that this person may have been Arabic, not Persian. Persian-born Arab, perhaps? (See Geber) -- Kbh3rd 00:38, 3 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Muhammad Khatami is an Arabic name. So is he an Arab? He is the president of Iran.
Ibn Rushd has an Arabic name. So was he an Arab? He was from Spain.--Zereshk 01:10, 3 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Khatami and Ibn Rushd are Iranian and Spanish. That doesn't answer the question about Ahmad Ibn Imad ul-din, but I get the point – my name is English and my wife's is German, but don't call either of us European.
When I first read the article stub and the doubts about his dates I thought his origin might be in doubt, too. Kbh3rd

That guy Yuber on the Geber page is making an incorrect claim. I think he feels frightened after seeing that huge list I have been working on during the past 4 months. If he sits down and compiles a similar list of Arab medieval scientists, I think it will be just as long.

People forget that medieval Persia was a very large place; technically from the Euphrates all the way up to Tajikestan and the Central Asian Republics. It's only natural to have so many people show up as Persian on the list.--Zereshk 06:40, 3 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
