This reads like a religious tract or hagiography Secretlondon 22:12, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Rajesh, my native place is Ettayapuram and hence I did hear from my grand father that the people of Ettayapuram talked about Bharathy being addicted to kanja (Bharathy died before my grand father was born, so whatever information he has is from hearsay, but of a little more authentic nature). But, I was not sure about the other points in that section. -- Sundar 12:16, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)

Sundar, #1. You asserted. #2. IIRC, Sister Niveditha talked about it in one of her letters. #3. Talk:Iyer#Subrahmanya_Bharati. #4. I read somewhere; will try to bring some reference (if possible), #5. -
Hope, now you're convinced:) --Rrjanbiah 13:56, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I was never unconvinced about #1. But, I changed it because somebody else may not be convinced. #5 seems to be far fetched. -- Sundar 14:10, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)

Negative perceptions about Bharati

[edit]

I came here via google searching for info about bharathy and was shocked to see the conspiracy theories. I have used/contributed to wikipedia before and it's is very easy to add false information about anybody you don't like. It is essential to verify whatever an editor puts.

Can you please mention a reliable source that says so?
If it is not verifiable, this becomes a NPOV dispute. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Accuracy dispute -- Ragavan

You may want to look at conspiracy theory for it's meaning. As far the statements are concerned, these are much popular among any literature experts. Still in any literature workshops you can find debate related to these, though they're not bring to public view as his image established a lot because of his root. --Rrjanbiah 05:18, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Bharathy vs. Bharathi

[edit]

Which one is the spelling to be preferred? I somehow see colonial reekings in spelling it as "Bharathy". Anyway, which ever one is to be preferred, consistency has to be maintained in the article.

sol 14:49, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

I agree. I remember reading somewhere that there is one spelling that the poet himself used. Will try to get it soon. -- Sundar (talk · contribs) 15:09, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

"'Of all the languages I know, I have not heard a sweeter language than Tamil' "

[edit]

In the article it was mentioned Subramanya Bharathi said "'Of all the languages I know, I have not heard a sweeter language than Tamil' " Now,without intending to offend anybody ,correct me please if i am wrong?i thought subramanya bharati said "'Of all the languages I know, I have not heard a sweeter language than Telugu'.I know maha kavi bharati is tamil poet, but i come across articles again and again that subramanya bharathi said Telugu is sweetest...

The exact quote you have used was indeed written by bharathi for tamil. யாமறிந்த மொழிகளிலே தமிழ் மொழி போல் இனிதாவது எங்கும் காணோம். (lit. Of all the languages I know, I have not heard a sweeter language than Tamil). BUT bharathy has also wrote சுந்தர தெலுங்கினில் பாட்டிசைத்து. (lit. writing a song in the beautiful Telugu language). So he has had good things to say about both languages.--Sodabottle (talk) 17:37, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bharathi said "யாமறிந்த மொழிகளிலே தமிழ் மொழி போல் இனிதாவது எங்கும் காணோம்." -- this denotes that Bharathi knows many languages and Tamil is the sweetest language among them. Also he said "சுந்தர தெலுங்கினில் பாட்டிசைத்து" -- it means that Telugu is a sweeter language. i.e, he had given the 2nd position for Telugu.

Date of death

[edit]

In the infobox, it is stated that Sept 11 is the date. In the section it is mentioned as Sept 12. The former one is the correct detail. So i edit it. --Ernesto Balaji (talk) 05:00, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bharathi's introduction to Swadeshamitran by Panditha M. Gopala Krishna Iyer (Ma.Ko)

[edit]

Dear Sir, I wish to edit the page by providing additional information on how Bharathiyar was actually appointed by 'Swadeshamitran'. 'Panditha M. Gopala Krishna Iyer',popularly known as 'Ma.Ko', a noted literary figure in Madurai who saw the spark in Bharathiyar and was deeply concerned about his progress, introduced him to his friend G. Subramania Iyer the editor of 'Swadeshamitran'. Impressed by Bharathiyar, G. Subramania Iyer called him to Madras for working under him.

This information is culled from the chapter entitled 'Madhurayambathiyil' in the book 'Mahakavi Bharathi varalaru' by Seeni Visvanathan who is an authority on Bharathi.

Requesting you to edit your page by providing a link to the wiki page of Panditha M. Gopala Krishna Iyer or Ma Ko. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chidambaram.A (talkcontribs) 05:29, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

regd: Wikipedia:RedWarn mass revert (of multiple good faith edits having indiv edit summary) WITHOUT giving valid reason.

Hello DaxServer, regd; Your RedWarn mass revert, I had to undo it to preserve the good faith edits that were done before. Could you please show specific problems with my previous good faith edits, and we can work on them, to fix them. Your mass revert without valid reason is very disheartening, let's make WP a better place by cooperating to improve it. Thanks, by contributor 2know4power 2know4power (talk) 01:47, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
