[edit]

There seems to be a section in the Baroreceptor activation towards the end that looks awfully like an ad for that company, including a direction to their website. Still, I'm not familiar enough with the topic to make a judgement as to the validity of linking directly to a service provider. Might actually be helpful. In any case, someone else might know if this is indeed an ad and what to do with it. InquisitorHex 05:44, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure looks like an advertisement to me. I'm gonna go ahead and delete the paragraph, feel free to revert if you strongly disagree... zenazn 04:46, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reinstatement question

[edit]

I am the original poster of the Baroreflex entry, and I am the copyright holder for www.truthaboutets.com, where the original text appeared. Please reinstate it. Thank you.

Yes he is the webmaster of www.truthaboutets.com, please see [1]--Clawed 11:47, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Temp page

[edit]

I have no idea how it ended up on my watchlist, but Baroreflex/Temp just popped up there because some substantial text was added to it. Could someone who understands this subject please check what's there and integrate it here if necessary? That page can then be turned into a redirect so we don't have two versions. Thanks! — Catherine\talk 22:29, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Test Question

[edit]

I just got out of an exam the question was: Which of the following is responisble for reflex control of the heart rate from changes in blood pressure? parasympathetics sympathetics both I picked both, but think its a bad question since the reflex involves removing the sympthetic component actively which if done alone (ie. beta-blockers for hypertension) would decrease BP. Thanks for any help.

Effects in exercise

[edit]

There could be something on this page describing the theories of the baroreflex being reset during exercise!

CVLM or Nucleus Ambiguus

[edit]

In my physiology class they said that the NTS sends projections to the nucleus ambiguus, which both activates parasympathetic efferents and suppresses the RVLM. Could it be that the nucleus ambiguus is actually a part of the CVLM? If that is in fact the case it seems best to use the more specific term instead of CVLM and note that the same nucleus serves both functions. Expert opinion anyone? Abe (talk) 19:53, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Abe. In my class, they said that Nucleus Ambiguus is motor nuclus for CN IX, X and XI, and that NTS is sensory. However, Posterior nucleus of Vagus n, was the Parasympathetic stimulatory centre... But now, I am not sure what I am supposed to believe.

Valsalva Maneuver

[edit]

Someone needs to link the Valsalva Maneuver to both this baroreflex article and baroreceptors. I've added the related article, Valsalva maneuver to the bottom of this article. Below is an abbreviated version of my course notes.

The Valsalva maneuver is employed in clinical autonomic laboratories to assess the status of the arterial baroreflex. Heart rate and blood pressure are monitored while either forcing expiration against a closed glottis (as when straining to lift a heavy weight or when trying to clear your ears when flying in an aircraft) or forcing expiration against a high resistance (such as blowing into a device that sets a 40 mmHg resistance to flow).

A continuous fall in blood pressure during Phase II (decreased venous return upon a sudden increase in intrathoracic pressure and increase in blood pressure) plus a lack of a blood pressure overshoot accompanied by little difference in heart rate between Phase III (decrease in blood pressure because of a decrease in intrathoracic pressure upon release of expiration) and Phase IV (increase in venous return and total peripheral resistance) indicates dysfunction somewhere in the neural reflex arc for control of blood pressure. User:CASSIOPEIA can you explain your reasoning here.

The source you claim this is copied from https://operativeneurosurgery.com/doku.php?id=baroreflex actually has copied the text from here. Thanks. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 09:25, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that looks like a mirror of Wikipedia. --It's gonna be awesome!Talk♬ 09:44, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Doc James, Hi conversation as per on my talk page and thank you for informing. Appreciate it. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:05, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated?

[edit]

The page does not include recent information regarding the PIEZO1+2 hypothesis which explains the molecular underpinnings behind baroreceptor mechanosensitivity. Basedhegel (talk) 01:24, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
